Default Airbox Expiriment

So after riding around a few months with no air box snorkel and too cheap to order a KDX snorkel I decided to fab one out of stuff I had laying around the shop. I was tired of getting water in the airbox and I realized that if there isn't anything directing the air into the box at high speeds you could potentially be creating a vacuum. So let me know what you think about it, I know it may be a little ghetto rigged but its nothing permanent so no harm no foul.

You can't get anymore flow under your seat than that (Literally)

I did the EXCAT same thing but found that it provided no additional benefit to me over simply removing the snorkel so I discontinued using it. I will be interested to hear your results...

Doubt it does anything, but I'm sure it kept you busy for an hour or so

Any noticeable difference in the sound and vibration?

My intention was that the scoop would act as a splash guard during river crossings. Turns out that insignificant water was getting under the seat anyway...

It's mainly so water stops going into the airbox if it gets rained on.. I'm still waiting for the silicone to dry so I haven't ran it yet, but if doesn't do anything than whats the point of using a KDX snorkel? It's directional flow with more volume. I also just ordered a K&N should be here Thursday.

My bike runs best without any snorkle but with the lid on, never had water get in but it is made to also drain right back out. Whatever floats your boat.

that is how my bike was until i installed the k&n....with the k&n, it runs better and the vibrations go away with the kdx snorkel on my bike...
