In your search for parts, use the term "F5". That signifies '70-'71 Bighorn models and may get you more hits.

ETA: Seems I'm leaving my social graces in the outhouse more and more. Welcome aboard. The bike you are dealing with is highly desirable, as it has some features that are a bit unique, like the adjustable three position wheel, fork spring tensioning and height adjustable handlebars. Hope you keep us posted of your progress and outcome.

Thanks for the info and welcome. I picked this bike up for $35 at a scrap yard a couple weeks ago, all I had to do was scrub the carb and tank out, and air up the tires. With a last reg date of 1980 and lots of chicken feathers, I was surprised it came back to life so easily. I might start a thread with pics as I clean it up a little more.

Had a 71 f5 as one of my first real dirt bikes. Used to beat all kinds of road bikes from 0-70! I have a 73 f9 now, still a blast to ride. I have one question. They came with a short chain from the shifter to the frame. Even if it's missing from yours, you can feel the under side of the shifter, there's a little eyehole for the chain. Any idea what the purpose might be?
