So the first race if the new mx season was on Sunday at Roaring **** raceway. Got up at 4:30am, packed up and met the guys at 5:15 to load the other two bike in the trailer. It was a balmy 36 degrees. After a 2 hr drive to we actually got to the track on time for sign up and relax bit before an 8:30 practice. Had first practice (all 250f's) and the track was like frozer rocks. Man, did I suck! I onlyt raced the track once last year so luckily I was familar with the 1.5 mile course. I snuck back out for the 450 practice and got another jump down, about a 60ft uphill. 3rd gear pinned wide open!

Anyway, my nerves were shot lining up for the first moto, (16 on the gate) 2nd gate from the first turn. The gate dropped and I was all sideways Bad start but I ducked into the inside and got maybe 5th. A few turns later....I stalled it and watched everybody go by before I got the bike started! I knew I only had 4 laps to try to put a good finish in. I started passing some people, jumped passed a few and had no idea where I finished. I pulled into out pit totally disgusted and my friend said.........you got 2nd! I was amazed in disbelief 'cause the moto went by so quick.

The next moto was good more relaxed. Same gate and about 4th out of the first turn. Made a couple of passes where I stalled it before and got in to 2nd and that's were I finished. The leader was gone.....never saw him after the firsat lap. So I was stoked with a 2nd overall. Next week is High Point the same track the pro's run on every year. So I can't wait for that.

pretty sweet. can't wait to start the race season around here. the first one is always nerve racking, especially when you're sitting at the gates.

 

Thanks everyone! I was really pumped about the comeback and had to share it with my friends here. It was best feeling because it was an AMA sanctioned race. Ido have to admit that a few guys did get bumped up a class earning enough points from last year. But every race is different so I'm stoked for this Sunday! Maybe the guy who won won't show up.

I hear ya stone_...Usually at the gate I'm fine, it's the first practice that the nerves go haywire! When does your season start?

 

umm... since the weather's been pretty crappy here it will probably be around the end of this month, hopefully. I still need to get to the track and practice, but the up and down weather is bein freakin crazy.
