Tribute to Coal Miners
My grandfather worked in the West Virginia coal mines when he was a young man. I recall the pictures of the house where he grew up; clapboard sides, no insulation, etc. I'm NOT suggesting current coal miners or families still live in the dark, cold ages, but I believe I appreciate the hard work, danger, and under-appreciation of their job. Bless the miners and their families during these difficult days. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
there is a mine about 2 hours south of where I live. The people who run it locked out the union works. Things like that **** me off, they are trying to break the union so they can pay lower wages. The mine is the only work in the little town.
Just passing along appreciation for people who do one of many dirty, thankless jobs. (Check the headlines. Lost some in a mine disaster.) I'm a believer that the smell of a good wood and coal fire is therapeutic during the winter months. ...and WARM, too.
