As much as I love my little KLX, it definitely has its limitations. I would love to get a bigger bike so my wife and I could go on longer rides together.

This is what I would like to get next.

Two up for a short ride, that looks like a nice ride. (ie 200 miles a day ride maybe). Since my woman is not of the iron butt theme, (wheely in any gear here....), that ride would not be an option. The ride looks cool though.

Wow, I'm going the other way. I find pure street bikes boring for my riding. I avoid 4 lanes like the plague and would rather trailer a bike over the long straight flats to the good stuff. So my wishes are to sell my Zephyr, turn the KLX650 into a supermoto type ride (my kind of road bike) and get a KLX250 for dual sporting in a more true sense doing more trails along with the dirt/gravel.

Riding my brother's recent acquisition (KLX250) I found the light agile characteristics to be desirable for the dirt/gravel roads and it would open up actual single track trails with a bit more challenge to me being 5'6" and about 180 lb it is much more suitable than the heavy 650.

Besides I ride the 650 harder and faster on the road than I do the road bike. It just feels more natural for me. The only reason I won't go bigger in the supermoto to the more hypermoto is my desire to:
  • Keep my license (points)
  • keep my money (fines)
  • stay out of jail (triple digit speeds)
  • more fun riding a slower bike fast than a fast bike slow (for me it's true)

But that's just my thinking. The things I like. No reflections on anyone else's choices.

Two:
KTM300 EXC for a lighter trails bike.

Something for comfortable two-up touring. A Goldwing or similar. Not particular about this one.

Although I currently own a Kawasaki, but I am looking forward for a Yamaha RD 350. It is an awesome bike with awesome potential.
