Riding more dangerous than combat?
Read an article today that stated that more Marines have been killed on bikes this year, than in combat. What the hell! This is sad, but you have to wonder if it is just some guys all pumped up after combat, not really scared of anything, then they come home and get a bike. Some probably has never ridden before and have the feeling of invincibility which will catch up with you fast on a hot bike. I really dont know but that's my theory. I find it sad that they protect our country, then come home and crash and burn like that.

I will bite. We are trained for a job. Riding was not part of the job unless you learned as a kid or beyond.
No fear and knowing your skills.
Protect your buddy and he protects you.
after my first gulf conflict in 87, I too was invincable.

refresh my memory, but what was the gulf conflict that happened in 87?
Was that when we had our destroyer attacked by the suicide bombers?

I am still invincible sometimes
Many of the guys I knew who died when we got back were young, had full bank accounts and no riding experience. Guess what they bought.
Thats right, gsxr 1000's and Busas.
I still love to ride hard and fast because it is the only way to get that adrenaline rush that was just a part of my day in Iraq. I just outlasted many of my buddies because I had ridden for nearly my whole life, and because I was a little older and had bigger responsibilities to take care of. Many of them wanted to get as much fun in as possible before the next deployment, and it killed them. I am not blaming the president or the military for this by the way, so don't get excited all of you Obama supporters. Just stating that we all make choices in our lives, and have to deal with the consequences.
