this feature will only cause headache's and hurt feelings. when some troll keeps handing bad rep because he a hater or a new chick signs up and her rep goes thru the roof because of her ta tas. my local riders forum has the same format and did away with it because of the problems it caused. anyone else have an opinion??

 

I have seen it work successfully over at ThumperTalk. They call it "Good Gas/Bad Gas" over there, the icon is a gas can, lol. I think there are limitations where you can't just keep giving someone bad rep over and over, it won't let you do that. You have to spread it around to a lot of other people before you can give it to the same person again.

 

poor IG or 09klxowner stands no chance with a system like this and it's not fair. everyone is entitled to there own opinion and this system only ruins this right.

 

Im not all about the rep. im not used to it but hoedoggy makes a very very good point

 

mark my words it will affect this sites coolness and good people will leave

 

it should now be setup that only mods/admin can hand out reputation...and i do agree that it can turn into something that bothers people...

the old software had a similar system just called "Score"...but we also had that disabled at most sites. The sites where it didnt become a problem, people were always asking how to get points, etc...

 

Well I have a different opinion here. A ton of good members left because we had no leverage to stop bad apples from spoiling the bunch. If we can't police the forum, it will cause the good to leave and the bad to keep on doing garbage. My 2 cents

 

well, now that the forum is working properly, we will be able to handle things in a much cleaner fashion...

the mods and admin still have access to the rep system, and if its something that the members wanted to try to use, we can do that. One thing, it appears as though I can make it such that members can only leave positive rankings...or so that you can see who left you the rep points.
