Need help picking a Kawasaki Ride
I have never owned a motorcycle before which model would be good for a new rider that is 6'4.

You've got to give us a little more then that. For instance, what type of riding would you like to do? Do you have a budget?

Welcome, Dur. As mentioned^, several things to consider when choosing a ride. What kind of riding do you want to do? Any experience with bikes? Give us more details and you'll get plenty of free advice! :)
Welcome, again. |
If you want a bike that can do a bit of everything without necessarily being the best at anything (and you're average height or above) then a KLR650 is a good choice. If you want to ride exclusively on dirt or road, or if you have "duck's disease" (ass built too close to the ground), then there are better choices in every direction, but the KLR is a great "do-everything" type machine.

Just my opinion.... I couldnt imagine having to turn around because i came up to a gravel road or a very poorly maintained road. I take my KLR anywhere. really.

Nice! :D

Welcome to KF, let us know on what your plans are!
I have that "Duck Disease" that DA mentioned, so a KLR for any kind of offroad would be out of my arsenal. LOL |
I should mention that the KLX250 has exactly the same seat height as a KLR650 (890mm, the KLX has more ground clearance though), so except for the difference in weight if you can ride one you should be able to handle the other.

OK... I'm also trying to figure out what to get - was looking at the KX or the KR... I'm 5'8" and 240 lbs... are these going to be too high for me? Or will my weight push them down to earth? lol How about when I get down to 200? I'm working on that right now...
My inseam is 30" btw - if that helps... |
