My project from the past weekend...
From design to built....i designedsteps for my father in law, 14- 2x10 steps and 3-2x12 stringers... alot of cutting... but all i have to do now is the railing. If anyone doesnt know im a drafter for a civil engineering firm, Designed using 2008 autocad.Just thaught id share my first steps, everyone makes a big deal about cutting out stringers, they were easy, for me at least.

Nice job Eric. I asked Eric if we could tweak this thread a little, and he said sure. Hey we should turn this thread into our "showcase a project" thread, showing everyone what we have done. It doesn't have to be carpentry, maybe someone has a cool rock garden with a pond, or a car that you are working on, or maybe even a painting. Anyone? OK I'll go first.
This is a playhouse I made 6 years ago. Its solid as a rock. Built on 4 posts, (4x4) Post in concrete, but the real strength is the X-braces.I got the plans from a book called Backyard playhouses, and is actually modeled after the lookout tower that the Forest Service used andis still in use today. Here is the full scale version that I got my idea from. Attachment 30703 Here is my version http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...100_3953-1.jpg Here is one of a drafting table I made for a lady here at work that has a bad back. The top is from a desk that had the top replaced, and rather than throw it away, I decided to see if I could use it for something else. She loves it. Attachment 30704 |

I did all the cad work for my home addition and am doing most of the work to build it. CAD makes everything work easier as long as you take good dimensions to know what you are working from.
