How to talk someone down?

I dont have much experience with buying things, but how would you talk someone down in price? the bike im about to buy sells for 4300 at high nada stock. the one im getting has an alarm and exhaust which makes the nada value 4700. the guy said he'd sell me the bike for 4300. how should i talk him down?

Do you have cash in hand? Offer $3800 and if he counters with 4, take it.

well my problem is that i dont think the bank will give me the money, last time i bought my first bike they had the owner come in and sign everything for it. so...

Dont tell them it is for a bike. Just tell them you want an unsecured signature loan for 4k.

You told them it was for a bike last time - they had him come in to sign the title over to the bank, so they could put a lien on it.

credit unions are easier for loans. imo

kevhamm 01-23-2009 05:53 PM

it is a credit union and i already have the loan set up...plus i dont think theyd give me a personal loan for 4000 since my credit history is so limited seeing as how im only 20
