a 'funny' story
I was just checking out some of the videos of crashes, and it reminded me of the day I got my license. I had got to the license place early in the AM, and they made us wait until 2:30PM before they had anyone 'free' to do the tests. We were all a little peeved by this time!! I was second in line, and there were a few who had already taken the test and failed before talking about how hard they make it etc, etc. The first guy in line is on a 600 Sportbike (can't remember which one, but it was either a Honda or Kaw - since this is a Kaw site, and this was a bonehead move, we'll say it was a 600RR), and it was nice!! Red, new, and looking sweet!! He was a guy in his late 20's, seemed like he'd been riding a while, no brainer to get the test over with, and be all nice and legal on the streets of Georgia....
I'm outside talking to one of the other people waiting in line as he rides out to where the examiner is, where they explain each step of the test. The first part is you get up to 12-18 mph, and when the light goes on, 'emergency stop'. No problem, right?? WRONG All of a sudden I hear the engine wind up to about 3-4G, and I turn around to see this guy lock the front brake, and go slowmotion up over the bars, and face dive into the asphalt right in front of the examiner, and the bike's back wheel land on him....snapped off the mirrors, scuffed up the beautiful paint, and probably soiled his shorts.....

ya i hate the circle. i was practicing on my brand new katana 600 at the time and i did the circle. and as i was turning i looked down. uh bad move. i pulled on my front brake and down i went. that was the first time i felt how heavy the bike really was. then when i took the test, the instructor told me if i put my foot down at any point in the circle. it's a fail. well i put my foot down for a second and i looked at the instructor when i was done and i asked her when can i done it again. she said do what you passed. i had the biggest smile.
i was outta there.

Yeah, I had about 1000 miles on my 1200 (and I'm only 5'9" 150), so I was a little shaky trying to hold 12-18mph. We didn't have a full circle to do though, only 2 1/4's in different directions. It was basically easy once I got going, and I got good props from the other people waiting when I got done.....glad I don't have to do it again though!!

Yeah - those circles sucked big time! We had to do two going to the left, two going to the right, then do a figure eight pattern twice. If you put your foot down, you failed. We also had to do a 'slow straight ride' (basically the examiner walked beside you as you rode, that was tough!) and a serpentine pattern around a set of cones - if you ran a cone over, you failed.
I failed my first time through, but nailed it the second time! Unfortunately, the MSF here does not get you your license.
