Default Cold Weather Riding Thread 2013-2014

Hey,

Though I would start this thread so the real riders can report how low they will go...

I will start.

Rode today:
36° when I woke up, about 40° when I left for work.

It was in the low 50s when i left for work today. Thankfully it won't get much lower here. Maybe it'll dip into the 40s but not too often.

Took out on Christmas morning a few years back in quest of an ADV tag that was stuck [tag had sat 50 days due to weather. When it's bad enough a West Virginian won't go out and get it, you better pay attention] in the geographical center of West Virginia. Forty miles into my little adventure, I got a pic of the bike in front of the digital time and temp at the Wardensville, WV bank....6 degrees. The trip was 488 miles round trip, the warmest I saw was in Buckhannon, WV, 18 degrees. Thank you Gerbing's. Thank you Aerostich. ,

Those tag games made absolute idiots of otherwise normal, reasonable people.

February, 2010 I'm suffering from insomnia. Nobody online to jerk around. Three ADV tags 250 miles away in Tide Water area of Virginny. And the weather man says it will be 60's and sun in the Virginia Beach area when the sun comes up. 2 AM and I'm rolling south down I-95, stop for gas in Fredericksburg, VA., digital sign says it's 17 degrees. I was OK until I saw that. Frost bit gonads was the least of my problems that ride..a few hours later I was frisked, cuffed and stuffed while a number of M16's were pointed at my intimate areas and some humorless Homeland Security peeps doing the pointing. Seems they don't like their installations photographed. I must have a short attention span. I forgot all about the ambient temperature when the weapons came out.......

Cold don't slow me down much. Ice and snow pack is a consideration.

Was not that cold today only 42, still rode. I did change the windscreen to a taller one, on the Connie over the weekend, so not I can block more wind.

It's funny how much I pay attention to the morning temps now that I ride. Right now we're in the mid to high 40's in the morning. I'm plenty warm with my jacket and gloves. I'll ride in any temperature as long as it isn't raining.

My favorite time of the year is when the morning temp hits 60 and I can ride without my jacket.

I'm in Southern California. Doesn't get below 50's too often here. :-)
