Buell

Me and my friends have all just purchased bikes. I got the 250 and taught myself and the other two guys how toride on it. One went out and bought a yamaha fz-6 brand new and its nice and my other friend bought a brand new buell. This thing looks like the biggest pos I have ever seen. Its pure plastic. Its lower then the 250 which is odd. When you start it, it looks lke its gonna shake itself to pieces... anyone heard anything good/bad about these bikes?

RE: Buell

I have heard etream mixed review about them. Some people love them others have had nothing but problems with them. I like the new one they have coming out in a couple months 1125R. Its a buell with a rotax motor. Rotax or rotex not sure how the spelling is are they one show make motors for BMW and Aprilia so I would say the new one should not have issues, but from what I have heard its kind of a crap shoot with the firebolts and cityX as to if you will have problems or not.

I had an XB12r and it was a sweet bike. it does shake rattle and roll, but it has power out the ass. Comparing it to a Jap bike is like apples to oranges. Its a whole differnt cup of tea. Me owning both an 05 636 and the buell can speak for both. The 636 has a hellish top end.(which never ends 15500 on the tack) On the other hand the Buell has power from start to finish.(sadly it finishes at 6000) I know for a fact that the buell is alot heavier than the 636, but you would never know it. I felt that the buell would drop into a turn alot quicker than the 636 and have ass loads of power out of the turn no matter what gear you were in. head to head (056r and myself) the 636 will easily pull away from the buell after about the 110 mark.(i mean pull away!!!) Both really great bikes but for totally differnt people.(unless your me LOL) sadly its made by harly but the engine isnt anymore and it is now liquid cooled with about 146 bhp!!!! Sweeeet

Hope this helps

I dont ride with any buell guys, and have never owned one so no first-hand experience. But I can say that they always get their ass whooped in formula extreme races...and they sound like turds IMO.

Well, technically they are Erik Buell's designs with Harley's financing. Erik Buell was an AMA road racer and chassis engineer for HD when he left to start his own company, Buell, which was later backed financially by HD.

Buell makes some pretty innovative stuff. While the relationship is pretty close with HD, I wouldn't exactly call them Harley's.
