So it looks like cycle world got the first pics of the street bike. I have to say I really like the new look and would pick one up over any other liter bike out there.

I wonder how much it will cost. Kawi is saying it will be 200hp have abs and traction control. I hope those are options if not then I hope they are able to keep the cost down. As is I'm thinking the bike will be like 13.5kish area. I'm still trying to wrap my head around a 200hp stock motorcycle.

We just got off the phone with Kawasaki HQ, and it’s official: the 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R will inadvertently get a power decrease when it comes to the United States because of the EPA’s regulation of noise pollution, confirming earlier rumors from this week. The issue surrounds the EPA’s new methodology for measuring exhaust noise levels, which now involves taking the measurement at a percentage of the total rev range, instead of a specific rpm value.
The result is that the 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R passes the Euro III standards, but fails the EPA standards in its unadulterated form. To come into compliance with the EPA’s Noise Control Act, Kawasaki has lowered the rev-limit on the 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R by 750 rpm in order to meet the new criteria. The byproduct of lowering the rev-limiter will reduce the new ZX-10R’s maximum power output, but Kawasaki isn’t saying by how much.
Kawasaki says its the redline for American 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R’s will be 13,750 rpm, and sources outside of Kawasaki say the drop in peak power could be by as much as 10hp at the crank.



I think it will be an easy free mod to "unlock" the ecu. I know my RC-51 for the USA has a soft rev limiter that comes in at 9.5k RPM, by jumping two wires it removes that soft rev limit and raises to the original 10.2k RPM limit. I hope there is something like that you can do to the new ZX-10 to get the full redline and power.

wow, only a 750rpm decrease for a 10hp drop? This new monster must be a top end only machine.

yea it sounds like its a beast up top. The reason for the rpm drop is to meet the new noise standards. Yup now bikes have to deal with emissions and noise standards that just changed. They use to only have to rev to a set rpm. I guess they changed it to a set percent of the total RPM so the higher the redline the higher it has to rev for the noise test.

yup, here comes the govament to f s up again. i have a feeling that soon theyre gonna do to bikes what they did to cars in the 70's. honestly, who the hell cares about noise pollution anyway? ntm the amount of noise an engine makes depends on the person in control of it more so than the engine itself.

Ok time for an update. So the first video of one being dynoed is out. Looks like Kawi is living up to the hype of the bike. With a unrestricted ECU and exhaust the new ZX-10 is putting down 188 to the rear wheel.
