Default ***Bike Rally and Poker Run Report!!***

Well, we all survived the Rain Forest Run Bike Rally and Poker run, and in fact even though the numbers were not as expected, the event turned out great! Riding with these big bikes, mostly Harleys, it was as though I was adopted by everyone as a mascot. Riding with these guys, or anyone really for the first time was a greater experience that I ever imagined. It was awesome following a small group of 16 -20 on the poker run. I really need to find more people to ride with, it really adds to the experience.

Anyway, Saturday morning I was pumped and ready for a great day's adventures. I was sitting there in my underwear looking out at the foggy but soon to burn off view outside my window, drinking coffee of course and I hear a car start up at 7:00 am that sounded like a dragster. I had only a few seconds to grab the camera and shoot this outside my window. The drag races were also happening today.

As I headed down to the park, I got to see the first arrest, and it had nothing to do with the bike rally, I think this lady had a warrant, or was DUI, not sure. So of course I just had to stop and take a picture...right? Hehehehe

There were some cool bikes, and everyone I talked to had a story, what a great bunch of people. I bet there were a hundred out of the approximately 1000 bikers that were women.

There weren't all of the bikes at once, a lot of them were watching the drags, and then they came back for the poker run, a lot were camping all over town and in the surrounding areas.

This guy rode this from the drag races, not something for the long trips, something like a Harley engine, on a BSA frame with a Triumph tranny or something like that. The heads looked like they were brought up from the Titanic debris, gas line touching one of the heads, and it was puking oil, but still cool to look at.

A guy I went to school with showed up on this, he bought it like it is and I asked if I could sit on it, I always wanted to just sit on a chopper.

Default Poker Run

So not all 1000 bikes took off at the same time, which actually worked out pretty well. I actually had planned on doing some geocaches along the way, but they ended up being too far off the road, so I ended up a few times with a group of 12-14 bikes, usually bringing up the rear.

Here are a few shots of the ride.

I ended up on the 4th check point with a 4,5,6,7 and all I needed was a 3 or an 8 and out of all the riders I would have won $500, but it was not to be, I drew another 6. Bummer. Anyway it was a great time, smaller that expected, but I'm sure it will grow next year.

Here is the route we took. The one in yellow is from the poker run on Saturday.

Awesome DeeJ..... Did you get to cruise the chopper?

Cool pics man. I still remember my first poker run. ABout 16 years ago, and I lost a card, and had to face the consequences. lol.

That ol triumph is a sweet sled. I'd love to add one of those to my collection.

How many miles did you end up doin?

Oh yea 110 miles, I was standing on the pegs a few times. No I didn't get to ride the chopper, but I wanted to. Oh this was my second poker run, 2 years ago I went on a more DS poker run, and I too lost my card between checkpoint 3 and 4. I was really bummed.

HEck ya. That's cool DeeJ..... There's usually a fella that sets up a camera to get action shots of each of the bikes goin down the road. That would have been cool to get a couple of action pics like that when you were cruisin in the pack.

Looks like a great time Deej. You need to get a Harley just for the poker runs. I promise I wont throw it in the lake.
