valve adjustment or what??
 

hello! im having a problem with my 2009 brute force 750 and i need help. well anyhow i took it to a shop to fix about a month ago because it had a knock in it. so i got it home and everything was fine it was running strong with absoulutly no problems. well, last saturday i was riding it and all of a sudden it started slowing down so i took it home and now it has a clicking noise in the engine. its not loud but you can deff hear it and everytime i rev it up the clicking gets faster. i heard that loose valves will cause this and the mechanic told me that i should check the valves often so im wondering if its that but i dont know! any help? im lost and i afraid that it might be another knock

What about the automatic camshaft chain tensioner? I know that they are a weak link on the street rides. Welcome to KF

Could be the valves again. Maybe they didnt get the jam nuts tight. OR could be your cam chains are goin bad. One reason why the cam chains go bad is lack of engine oil maintenance. I've done many cam chains on brutes cause the oil wasnt changed enough. I keep my 750 brute oil nice and clean and has no top end noise what so ever. How many hrs are on yours?

Valves can be set on a hot or cold engine. A cold engine is a lot more comfortable to work on. Major camshaft manufacturers recommend setting valves cold, to avoid erroneous adjustments on lifters that may be "pumped up" If you are setting valves on a fresh engine that has not been run, everything should be well lubricated before you begin.

Any valves I adjust are cold. Just what i've been taught. Plus yea it sucks workin on a hot motor. I hate gettin burned. Although on winter days when the shop is cold, its nice havin yer hands on a warm motor haha.
