Default Building 97 kx250, stator cover problem

Hey guys, so I just got my 97 KX250 finished up and on my 2000 KX250 frame. I have everything done engine wise and it runs great! Just got done with the heat cycles. I’m really picky and noticed the stator cover was JB welded. I of course had to replace it. I bought the oem cover and noticed it was a lot shallower than the one I have.

I can’t find anything that was talking about aftermarket flywheels or different covers to accommodate flywheel weight. Keep in mind that I’ve worked a parts department and built engines the better part of 6 years. Has anyone else had a similar issue? I can post pics if need be. I want this ugly cover off and a new one on! It’s an eye sore on a freshly restored bike.
