Default Switching oil

Hi all, tomorrow I'll be changing the oil for the first time on my used '98 zx9r. The previous owner used a 5 W 30 semi-synthetic Petro-Canada oil that I couldn't find anywhere, so I'm switching to a Lucas motorcycle oil 10w 40 as recommended in the manual, but not synthetic. I know I'll have to drain all the oil, change the filter and maybe remove the oil pan to try to get all the oil out before switching. Any other suggestions or reasons that this wouldn't be okay? The bike has 37 K km. Thanks for any advice. Love this bike so much so far.

You will have to turn the bike upside down and shake out all the excess oil in it.

No, really just read up on the Lucas oil you plan to use. I looked on their web site and was unable to find anything out about your question. You should email Lucas to ask them. They will know. My bet is the Lucas oil will work fine with whatever little bit of the other oil that is in there. All you should have to do is just simply change it as normal.

By the way do NOT use the synthetic with moly, that is for bikes that do NOT have a wet clutch, aka Harleys, BMW flat twins, and Moto Guzzi that run gear box separate and clutch dry.

Hahaha, sounds good. Okay, good to know about the moly, thanks for clarifying that for me
