Pic of custom radiator
 

Posted the pic of the custom radiator in the photo forum, but here it is, too. Hand built; flows about 2.5X stock. I don't use a fan, now. The bike will heat-up a little in stop-go traffic in hot weather, but stays on the mark the rest of the time. The best part is, you can fix it if it gets aleak!I got tired of thepaper-thin stock job.
I haveknown theguy who made it for me for most of my life. He does a lot of custom work for antique cars/resto's. Thisradiator is a beautiful work of art; one of a kind.

Custom work is not for the faint of wallet. This was his first one and he charged me about 500. He said he wouldn't do it again for less than 750, due to the hours involved.
However, the flow rate is amazing. He filled up both radiators with water, and "uncorked" both at the same time. (The inlet/outlet diameters are all the same as stock.) The OEM looked like it had serious prostate problems; the custom was about like a garden hose at very low pressure. (I actually laughed when I saw the difference!) If you've never seen anyone build one, educate yourself at a local shop. This one is a "3-row." I think OEMs are 1, maybe 2 row. He also does the old "honeycomb" style, where you solder each tube individually to the next tube. Definitely an old school guy, but builds damn good stuff. Many of the rads you see at concours events are his. I'm talking Pebble Beach; not the local MacDonald's...

yes, it is nice... but running too cold isn't good either. Hopefully you are in the "balance point" hehehe :)
