Help!! 2000 zr9 with 98 zr9 motor

So I got a 2000 zr9 that the guy put a motor from 98 in it with the 2000 harness hooked up everything turns over but I'm not getting spark obviously there's some things different between the two Motors like I see that there is a sensor on the side of the block on the 98 not the 2000 I think it's for the tachometer but is it possible to swap a 1998 zr9 motor into a 2000 zr9 thank you for your help I'm really new to the zr9 this is my very first Kawasaki
