1984 zx9 electrical issue

recently repurchased a 1984 900 ninja. runs fantastic! just like i remember it. however, just yesterday, while on a ride, the tach, gas gauge, temp gauge, headlight, tail light and horn all went inop. Blinkers work, starts and runs fine. Checked all the fuses they are all fine. i have seen nothing on the web about electrical issues like this. Please help! the bike otherwise is in really good shape for an 84. please HELP!!!

thanks!
roger

What does the schematic show? Is there a chance that a connector is loose/corroded? Good luck and welcome to KF

I checked all the connectors up front last night, didnt see any corrosiion, but sprayed them all with electrical contact cleaner. I have the repair manual and had to enlarge the schematic to look at it (darn old eyes), and the only things that i can see that could be in the way are the ignition switch and the reserve lighting module. However, the tach doesnt look like it runs through reserve lighting module, so i have ordered a new ignition, but i am skeptical. Funny thing is I also have an 1988 kawasaki voyager II and it has a similar issue, but intermittent. Replaced the ignition on that and same issue. I want to get the ninja back as close to original as i can. It just was such a radical bike for its time, both look and performance. Thanks in advance for any help!!

ok, I found my manual. Look in section 16 of the factory manual on how to test your junction box.

update on the 1984 ninja 900 electrical issues... so i have replaced the ignition, replaced the reserve lighting device. pulled the junction box checked all fuses, relays and diodes all good. tested the junction box in accordance with the maintenance manual, everything checked good for continuity. checked continuity of the headlight cannon plug and that was good to ground. checked for power to the headlight while the bike was running and no power. I am at the end... i dont even know what else to test.
