Type of Oil for Engine and Transmission?

What oil do I need to use for the Transmission?
Also, the manual states I can use 4 different oil types (10w40, 10w50, 20w40, 20w50 if I remember right).
But which one is the most recommended?

I bought an old crashed Zx-7R '96 this weekend with 14,000km on the odometer. I don't know much about the bike but luckily I have the original manual and papers.

I paid 600$ for the bike. It's missing some things from the accident but definetely rebuildable. I don't plan on rebuilding it though since I don't think it would be worth the time and money spent just looking for the parts, and I'm using the engine for a project anyways. So if anyone is looking for a great frame or whatever crap I might have left over, I'll have all that stuff later on.

Wow, this site is extremely dead.
Anyways, I put 10w40 and the tranny/engine use the same oil.

LOL, we just had a software update, and I'm still updating my subscribed threads. Sorry about that.

But ya, 10w40 and they use same.

Also the engine is only running on 3 cylinders.
Cylinder #2 isn't firing.
The plug was making spark though. Can anyone tell me what's so special about cyl #2? I can see in the back of the intake runners that only Cylinders #1, 3 and 4 have a fuel line going to it while the #2 has a bolt. It seems to come like that from the company.
I'm wondering if there's anything else I should look at which is fuel/carburator related.

Never mind. The Main jet on carb #2 was completely clogged. Engine runs great now :D

Congrats on using the basic principles in wrenching. Yes, asking helps promote the thinking process as well.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic so I'll just say thanks.

If anyone in the Quebec province is looking for a frame, I have the wheels, frame and front shocks for sale, for cheap.

There's a tube coming out from the top of the Transmission and goes into the lower casing of the plastic intake cover.
Can anyone tell me what it's function is?

After a let it run for a while, the plastic intake chamber was filling itself with oil which was coming out that tube, thus burning oil in the cylinders.

Is it some type of emissions crap?
Why would it cause the oil to get sucked out of the transmission and get into the intake chamber?

lol, asking a question or going to the basics helps jar my memory as well.

Answer to my last post: .7Litres of extra oil in the engine. Easy fix.

Also, everything is for sale, including engine.
Change of plans. Engine runs great though.
