Default Starter Solenoid Question

I need to replace my starter solenoid for my 1994 ZX7. My question: What model years interchange with my 1994 ZX7? What causes this part to fail? Should I replace anything else besides the battery in this repair?

Thanks everyone.

A new switch is $68 for your model.
pn/ 27010

Do a search on your part number in the fiche for other rides that carry the same part number.

Good luck and Welcome to KF!

those solenoids actually rarely go bad.. the relay in the junction box under the seat that controls it tends to act stupid 97% of the time.. mater the solenoid and make 110% sure its trash..

a failing starter can make them go bad, running on a bad battery as well will make whats called "contact bounce", and this will creat a violent arc and pit the contacts to the point of having so much resistance, they'll heat up with a load and burn themselves up the rest of the way.

the contacts are a silver alloy, and can be dressed with a file if you can get to them.

literally any solenoid can be made to work.. its just a 12 volt relay.

www.cmsnl.comhas the microfiche Mr. Drag was talking about..

Question

Hi, This is a long shot but I was hoping to get some help. I have to replace the Solenoid for my 94 zx7r. In the process of realizing that the solenoid was bad we burned and melted the connector that connects to the top of the solenoid. Does anyone know where I can look to get a new one? I can't seem to find the right words to search for or even a location that would definately have it. Anyone got any help???
