Default Spark troubles

I have a 1992 ZX7R. The problem is that if I turn the key and hit the starter button i have spark. I let off and the lights come on but then when I hit the button again there is no spark unless I turn the key off and then back on I will get spark again. Does this sound like a problem in the junction box or what should I check thanks the bike will still crank over with the kill switch off just no spark is that norm

welcome to KF!!

either you're the one who called me or someone else did asking the same thing. lol

it's not exactly "normal" i don't think.. the bike should be able to produce spark without having to be "reset" like that.

i wouldn't rule out a failing relay or miswiring of some sort.

yeah, something is goofy. No resetting is needed. Is this resetting just momentarily or after a couple of minutes? Hit up your manaul and trace it with your meter. I will have to check this out later tonight myself now. Been awhile since I rode the zx7.
