Default Crash - pics included

Ugh - well after 14 years I had my first crash this weekend. Some crazy twisties in south eastern Ohio, specifically route 377 just north of Chesterhill, Ohio.

I went into a sharp left hander and hit a little trailing rear brake, but too much for the light gravel at the edge of the rode, and my rear tire should have been changed. I lost control and laid it down on the left side whence I came off the bike and we slid for about 10-15 feet. Luckily I had a FieldSheer jacket on (nylon type with padding/kevlar reinformcements in various spots), my helmet and gloves. Just jeans though so I got a bit of road rash on the knee. Helmet didn't even get a scratch. Gloves were moderately ripped up.

I'm glad to be OK, but now I need to do some fairing repair (well, OK a lot of fairing repair!), fix the gear shifting mechanise which appears to be the only real mechanical damage, replace the tires, get some leathers and boots so I can get back to that corner and take it right! Anybody where in the fiche the mounting bracket for the gear shift mechanism is located? I couldn't find it on bikebandit.com..??

It held up quite well. The shoulder was completely toast and I have a lot of pain in my upper body from the impact but I had no visible bruising anywhere.

I will be investing in a set of leathers though. I've decided that for this kind of a ride to have less is just not a good idea. Everyone in the group I was riding with had full leathers.

Dangit progrmr. And here I am willing to try a mesh jacket only ( well with jeans if I don't feel too naked). I normally wear full gear ie one piece leathers. Looks like my armoured Kawi jacket may turn out to be my dinner coat for the night! lol
