Default Tail light integrator question

I used the cheap-o tail light integrator (ei-walmart trailer light adapter thing) on my 86 zx600 and everything works fine, except, when I am on the brakes with a turn signal on, it flashes faster. I know it is due to different resistances, but I read somewhere that a resistor in line to the rear bulb in the turn signal circuit wire should fix it, but I never got word if this was true or not. Just wondering if anyone knew off the top of their heads, if not, I will have to measure the resistances of everything. But, when I get the right resistor, I should put it inline TO the bulb, not after correct? Thanks,

Justin W

an inline resistor will fix the problem.... just put it on the positive side of the wire before the bulb.... you would have to measure the to get the proper resistance, but ya it will work....

I was going through some old posts over on kawiforums, and I found that I may need a different flasher. I tried an electrical one before instead of the stock one and it didnt' change anything, but I am hoping that I tried the wrong one and I will have to go and see if I can get another one.

thanks mad kaw, the only issue I have with that is it should (according to electrical theory) make the turn signals dimmer, and given the complaints many have seen on the integrators, I'd rather not make them any worse, so I will try the flasher thing first I guess, then if that doesn't work, off to radioshack for some resistors....

try hooking up a flasher with a relay.... the pulse might not be stronge enought to energize the flasher....

so I should put the relay inline with the power wire for the flasher and then run a straight wire to the battery? I think that's how you meant, but I was a little confused so if you can clear it up, that would be great... thanks

ok bro, try this....12v to 87... signal input to 86.... ground to 85.... output to flasher 30..... then from flasher to bulb.... know keep in mind your gonna need two sets of these... for right and left... hope that works... oh and as far as M.A.D.D. goes.... ha ha ha it's just something i found on a shirt and decided to use for my sig... good luck bro...

so I then need to eliminate my stock one at the front of the bike if I use your idea? Cause as it sits now, I think I only have one, and then one for the 4-ways... Thanks for the diagram

clear alternatives makes the resistor that you need to fix the problem. www.clearalternatives.com
