Default Running Short-term Without Muffler

My muffler came off my bike ('04 ZX-6R 636) on I-4 the other week leaving me without a muffler. I ordered a slip-on to replace it but it's not here yet. I'm wondering if it will hurt the bike to ride it once without the pipe? My brother needs the car this weekend and I have a graduation to go to. I've read numerous threads about how running it without a pipe can cause it to run lean or possibly overheat the fairings, but they're referring to long-term riding with no muffler. Would it cause any damage to my bike to ride it once without the can?

Um, I probably wouldn't do that. The neighbors (and everyone else) will throw very hard objects at you and point with the wrong finger....

I suppose that you could idle it over to the graduation. But if it is still not far, take your bicycle instead. It will be loud, you can get it overheated and therefore you can end up with valve or head warpage complaints if you decide to ride it for any length of time without the muffler. You will draw un-needed attention to yourself, you will get a ticket for obvious reasons if you draw that kind of attention. I would recommend finding an alternative mode of transportation for this event. Sorry man, but I wouldn't risk all of the bad possibilities.
