New to the forum. New to zx6r’s. Had a couple r6’s & a gsxr but never opened motors up or did anything crazy just small stuff. Bought an 07 zx6r with 18k miles for 700 didn’t want to pass up the deal it’s great looking bike. Has noise from motor almost like a hard knock. (Video with audio attached) Only turned it on a couple times real quick to try & get a grasp of the problem. It will still roll when bike is off & in 1st gear. First time I turned it on I dropped it in first & neutral light turned off, & when I roll clutch out nothing happens & neutral light turns back on. Won’t go up to 2nd but I’ll assume it might not anyway if it’s not at an adequate roll. Later turned it on real quick to see if it needed to be rolling & drop it in 1st now when I put it in gear it’ll shut off. Buddy says motor probably toast but idk if he just wants me to buy an extra 07 zx6r motor he has lol. Appreciate any insight!

 

u hear the knock sound on neutral.?....sound like trasmision problem..i got 04 zx6r without 3rd gear for about 10years knocking sound only on 3rd gear....i have change shift forks but nothing may need new dogs......u hear the sound only when add first gear?
