I just got my clear alternative integrated taillights for my 2005 6R, and I cannot figure out how to get the rear taillight off. I tried taking off the rear fairing, but I didn't know how to get the side with the rear seat lock loose.

Has anyone here installed these, and if so, how did you get them on?

 

ok first you need to take off the side black pieces that touch the driver seats. then unbolt the drivers seat (two screws). then you should see seven silver screws on the tail piece, unscrew them all. there is also three black clips under the drivers side rear fairind push the center in on the clip and pull them out. from there all you have to do is carefully work the rear fairing out it will slide toward the exhaust then unclip the tail light plug and your good to go. ive taken my whole bike apart so many times that its just second nature now.

ok, so everything is apart. If i dont use a resistor, do i just place the yellow wire (from the new taillight housing) in the red connector, and connect it to the gray wire? Or do I connect to the black wire with a yellow stripe. I don't have a test light so I can't test which is ground and which isnt. heh

 

well on mine there was a spot for a factory plug and 2 wires coming out off the tail light (left and right turn signal) you just connect the green wire from the factory of the left and right turn signal you dont connect the black wire from the turn signals unless you do the euro lights for the front signals your rear turn signals will blink fast just tape off the black wire and you will be fine. the turn signals grounds itself though the rear brake light. so dont worry about it. if you have any more questions let me know i will be happy to aswser them as best as i can
