Default Possibly buying 2005 ZX-6r

So I am thinking of buying a used zx-6r I found. The only real problems with it that I could see by looking it over and riding it besides a burned out headlight and speedometer that reads about 5mph off are...
There is no turn signal, here is a picture of the tail end. Is this an easy do it yourself fix? Also, there is no License plate mount. He has been mounting it on the subframe by the guard rail.

I rode this bike for about 15 to 20 minutes and no problems. However, when I looked it over I noticed this... The two tubes come out and abruptly end, I'm a little confused. What the heck is it?

Otherwise he is not asking a bad price at all for the bike, which only has 145x miles on it.

Welcome to the forum. Looks like the hoses are gastank vent & airbox drainlines. One of those (airbox drain)is supposed to have a little clear bottle attached to it. You may want to get a fender eliminator lic plate mount or make something up so you don't get pulled over for not displaying the plate.

Is that the 'other' little clear bottle to the lower left of the hoses???

And +1 to Sup-Unis exhaust fairings, they look nice. But at the same time he's selling the bike with the stock exhaust, too. I'm thinking about putting it back on and selling the Yoshimura he has on there to buy a fender eliminator kit.

OOPS, never mind. Both of those are drain lines. I didn't look closely enough. Just tuck them back in but be careful not to pinch them. One is a vent line and the other is the fuel cap drain line. Keep the Yosh. You can get or even make a license plate bracket or fender eliminator. Look in the DIY section.

How can I tell if something is DOT approved? I'm looking at this, and similar items have had warnings that they may not be legal. It would let me keep the exhaust on without switching back to the stock one. And it would let me get turn signals and a license plate light.

just to let you know, neither the integrated tail light nor the front flush mount signals are DOT leagal. but i have never been pulled over because of them, i think though cops would notice more in a bigger city

Never been "had" for mine either, but it seems like some areas def. are tougher on bikes.

I think if they start writing you up for chicken **** items like turn signals & exhausts (Unless they are missing, not working or open/extremely loudexhausts), they are "Chicken ****"! There is more serious stuff for themto worry than wrong or non DOT approved stuff. I have little bullet turn signals and haven't been warned about them. However,I was warned about my rear tire blocking the license plate as viewed from the rear. Make surethe plate islit also. Give them as little reason as possible to pull you over.
