Possible Gearbox fault
Hi,
I have recently purchased a new kawasaki zx6r 2007 model although on an '08 plate, I have had this bike for only three weeks or so and it is showing 116 on the clock. I was riding this afternoon and all appeared to be fine until I was crossing a roundabout in first gear and suddenly all power cut to the back wheel. The gear lever seems to have stuck and will not move up or down, the clutch however seems to be free moving? I am a little concerned and the AA didnt seem to have a clue, any ideas? Regards Phillip |

are you sure you just didnt hit your kill switch on the handlebar?

RE: Possible Gearbox fault
hows your oil look ? its possible the tranny got hot to the point it welded itself some how, a common problem on older yamaha trannys but never heard of this on a ninja.

RE: Possible Gearbox fault
Hi,
Thank-you for the reply, the engine was still runnning although there was no power delivery to the rear wheel, the engine temp was showing about 102, the oil level was fine and the engine has barely done over 4000 rpm as is being run in????????????????? |
RE: Possible Gearbox fault
what gear you in? where you shifting at the time? could it have slipped into neitral? possibly that dead spot between gears and it got stuff there somehow.

RE: Possible Gearbox fault
yeah, it is possible you overheated. evil is right, yamahas are known to run hotter and thus the problem happens more often with them. if your engine is only showing 102 degrees, your motor isnt even warmed up before you are trying to ride it. it is possible you locked up the clutch basket or warped the crankshaft.. the possibilities are endless..

RE: Possible Gearbox fault
ide be trucking it down to the dealer and making them fix it. imo

RE: Possible Gearbox fault
Take it back to the dealer and have them check it out. If it happens again, ask for a new bike!
