I have a 2003 ZX6RR(599cc) that feels like it's loosing the low-end power. The acceleration is just not there anymore. The bike has 42,518 miles on it, i put all but 5,000 miles on it in 2 years so it's been rode pretty hard. I was wondering if it might be a clutch issue, since it's never been changed. I also thought of just rebuilding the motor and gearbox all together. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

Only rebuild if it's necessary. Replace the clutch first and see. It's easy; about 1-2 hours at the most.

 

i say with that kinda of miles and u ride it hard then yes its time man, change the fibers and steels and springs when u do

 

sounds about right to me...fairly reasonable for pricing too, if you don't go too crazy

I Finally got a clutch kit for my bike, and i have a few questions though. How long should i soak the friction plates? Are there and tricks or anything special that i should be aware of? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

 

what kit did u go with, and i usually soak my fibers over night, just remember if your going to be installing them your self, same way they come out the same way they go back in, wouldnt be a bad idea to pick u up a service manual to be on the safe side

 

I ordered the EBC "SRC" Kevlar clutch kit with springs, and the EBC steel plates. I already have a service manual for this project.

 

i didnt no ebc made steel plates, where did u order them from, im runnin there springs in my 636 now

 

The green machine rides again!! The kevlar friction plates work great, and it's never shifted so easy before. The steel plates i ordered were not ebc like i was told, but they still work. Installation was simple and very easy, it only took me about 10 mins. to put everything back together(after soking the friction plates of course). I hope to have some pictures soon. RIDE SAFE!
