need help dont know how much to tighten chain
Hello everyone im new, okay i just bought a 03 zx6rr and it jerks and pops if i try to pop a wheelie i checked the chain and i think it needs tightend how do i know when its tight enough and what size bolt is the back wheel and whats the tork on those thanks alot.
Welcome, not to sound like a a*s but you can find all that in your manual except for the size and torque specs of the rear nut. Bikes do seem to differ but with the bike on a rear stand and measuring from the swing arm down you should have about 1 and 1/4 of up wards movement in the chain.
There are a lotof 600 riders here who will probably answer this better for you, just hang in there.
You can call the stealer ship and ask them they should be able to tell you. If you plan to do your own repairs, you should invest in a service manual they are about 25 bucks and are invaluable.
Hang in there and I am sure one of the 600 members here will check in with some better info for you.

Hello murph. While you're waiting for some good tech info, here is a good article to read about bike chains. I learned something new from this

Just remember, when it comes to your chain it is better to have it on the loose side as opposed to being tight. If it is too tight you can ruin the carrier bearing on the output shast of your tranny, and that would be a pricey mistake...
