I know this is a newbie question but I just got a 02 zx6r. I noticed red zone starts at like 14k i think. It is carbeurated so I assume there is no rev limiting. Can I rev it out to 16k without doing damage to the engine?

 

It will bounce off the rev limiter before doing any damage. Not matter if it's carb'd or injected since the limiter is electronic rather than fuel cut off.

 

if your red zonestarts at 14rpm then thats when your rev limiter kicks in, so u want be able to rev up to 16 rpm

 

ok, gotcha. Aslo I had no idea these carbed bikes would be so fast. The front end comes up at 12k rpms on first gear. Friend was wheeling it.

I highly recommend to take the keys away from your friend or have him give you a deposit for the repairs. You would be amazed at how many friendships are destroyed by your "friend" wrecking your bike.

 

my friend is a good rider and been riding a while. He can control the power. His bike is a 205whp busa.

 

Past performance doesnt garantee future results. Watch a stunter video, everyone who does something crazy will break something eventually. Just make sure that when something on your ride is broken you were the one having the fun.

For the record, Redlines are there for a reason they are operational limitations that you should not exceed. Exceeding the limitations of you equipment may result in catastrophic failure, even if you have done it before, and will limit the lifespan of your parts. Be careful, gear up, ride safe, have fun....in that order.

Mine hits the rev limiter at 14.5...yours should be the same.
