How to attatch rear brake light switch to Woodcraft rear set?

I recently replaced my factory rear sets with a set from Woodcraft because mine were thrashed, and I found a set on ebay for cheap. However, this particular set didn't come with a bracket/mount for the stock brake light switch. I didn't think much of it, but I'm getting my bike inspected soon, and I need that switch to work, even if only temporarily.

How have you guys attached your switch to your after market rear sets? I'm thinking I'll just zip-tie it to the bracket just for the inspection. But I would like a more permanent and reliable set up. Any ideas are welcome!

If you're handy with making small parts; i.e. brackets, etc., go to your local ACE or hardware store and check out the hobby stock metal. It's usually in the Hillman fastener aisle. Find what you need to make a bracket and have at it. If you need to make an extension for the switch activator "shaft," try using a piece of square stock and drilling a hole in either end for the cotter pin. It worked for me when I put some Harris rearsets on my old ZX9. Works as good or better than OEM. While you're in that aisle, get the nuts and bolts (stainless preferred) to tighten the parts together as needed. Good luck.

Did you get the rearsets from me? Woodcraft sells a hydraulic brake light switch that is activated by the brake pressure for $20 I think or you can fabricate a bracket for the stock one as mentioned above. You can use zip-ties if you get desperate or for temporary use.

Jeff: Thanks for the idea. I'll stop by our local hardware store tomorrow and see what I can 'create.'

Speed: I'm not sure. I actually bought the right side off of ebay thinking it was both, but obviously I had to find the left side from somewhere else, so I ordered straight from Woodcraft. I didn't see that hydraulic switch on their website, but I'll take another look and see what they've got.

A Hydro switch? Sorry I'm still a newb, but could you explain how this works? Thanks.

when you step on the rear brake, the pressure is what activates the light. basically, its a banjo bolt for the rear with 2 wires coming off of it.
