I think i will be starting my look at the taller boots. I'll just hope that they fit around my ankles and shins and work my way down 3/4 and then riding shoes. On the way i'm bound to find something! Thanks for your posts!

I just ordered these they should be in by next tues. I had a similar set just a little taller for the past 5 yrs they were great. I tried the icon field armor boot and i could not shift with them on (to tall in the toe and to stiff). I prefer something that goes above my ankle. That way it protects it if I go down. I found that the Alpinestar is stiff enough to protect, but allows a little movement for flexibility for shifting and walking. Just my $.02

I dig those. Very simple and right to the point. I think when you start to get things that buckle, tie, velcrow, stap in, glue....it gets a bit much. I'm very much into simple. Though i do like those Sidi boots and they do not look simple (though they may be) it reminds me of like robot boots or something. Very cool.

I have the AlpineStars ankle high riding shoes (like pit boots)for commuting and Sidi Vertebra Boots for serious stuff. I'd say wear what is appropriate depending on how you are going to be riding. If you feel comfortable in full boots, go for it.

Those Alpine Star Ridge boots are an awesome price and a great compromise between full and ankle high shoes.

what about the icon field armor boots ? they have buckles and crap but a zipper to make it all easy and simple.

i have them - good boots - takes about a week to break em in so they aren't stupid stiff. only complaint about them now is that they squeek when i walk

I think i'd like something a littler smaller in the toe. I don't want chunky boots.

I did not like the fit between the foot ped and my shifter. not enough room wrong angle for me im 6'2". i just had problems shifting with them. if they work for you right on. they look bad azz
