Default Help w/ Riding Gear!?!

I don't know what kind of boots to get. I have larger claves and have narrowed it down to these:

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...eet-Boots.aspx

Anyone ever try these? Own them? Have the same problem when looking for boots? I'm open for suggestions as well.

well i don't have large calves so i can't really relate, but the boots you posted look like good quality boots. the way i would decide is your riding style, if ur wearin full gear all the time like me...i would go with the first boot. the alpinestars look like great casual boots, something you could wear walkin around at a bike meet and not look like a powerranger (also like me lol). i have boots kinda like the agv boots and there is a zipper and then velcro closure. i'm sure if ur calves are too big that u could zip them up as far as u could then velcro them. honestly any of these boots are a good choice...much better than a pair of VANS lol.

search for setup vision boots on ebay. like 100 dollars, good boot for the price, i have them and theres lots of extra room for your calves, but i tuck my leather pants into them and still have room

I dont do track days or anything but I do ride pretty hard and simply wear steel-toe 9" chippewa loggers. you definitely look like a hick in them but I look like a hick anway and don;t have to change footwear after I get to work/school. these things are rugged enough to provide substantial protection from chain saws so i consider them road worthy.

if you're dead set on getting real moto boots the first ones are definitely very nice.

Look up www.ironpony.com . They have killer deals allthe time. The AGV boots are good for trackdays & racing. The ankle high ones are good for street & stunting. All depends on how much you want to spend, the protection & features you want.

i would go with #1, the more protection the better. Try and find a bike shop that has them in stock so you can try them on to see if they fit your calfs then you can order them online and know they will fit

You guys are always helpful. With the 1st ones, them being taller, do taller boots restrict movement any? Given once you get shoes that cover your ankles you're already restricted. I agree, the more my body is protected the better i'll feel about it. I'm going to look at gear in the next couple weeks so we shall see. I hope they have all 3 because i really like them all. Shame i don't have 6 feet. (: Thanks everyone!

For the street, I would get the ankle high (2nd pic) riding shoes; that is what I have.

taller boots dont restrict me any and i wear them every time i ride. short boots are okay but only foot is protected, what about the ankles and shins. last summer , a friend i ride with occasionally, looped his bike on the interstate riding a wheelie, his *** got rashed, ate his pants up, SHOULD HAD GOT LEATHER PANTS, broke his pinky finger, SHOULD HAD GOT GLOVES they couldve helped, also one of the foot pegs stabed his ankle, SHOULD HAD GOT BOOTS. btw hes not a young guy, hes in his 40's

hmm, I learned my lesson in riding, I should have considered this earlier prior to a twisted ankle fracture.
