Default Help please! Idle/running issue

Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can gelp me out. I have a 2000 ZX6-r that has been sitting in storage for about 6 months. I went to start it today, it starts fine with the choke turned down as i push the choke up it eventually dies about 3/4 of the way. Also while its on it sputters and when i give it any gas at all it dies. Any help at all would be great, I love riding and want to get back on it, but not very mechanically savy. Thanks!

Happens all the time brother, usually the gas sours and clogs the carbs. If you clean out the carbs drain all the fuel and start with some fresh high octane, it should clear right up. If you still have problems let us know.

speedracer mentioned an additive that seemed to have worked wonders for him.

Does sound like gunk in the carbs though. Unless you are trying to turn the choke off within a minute or less before the bike is warmed up.

Yup, gotta let it warm up before you turn off the choke, I kinda skipped over that step...

Not that you haven't already, but keeping with the primary rule of Keep it simple....have you verified that your choke is infact returning back to it's open position for normal running when you turn the choke off? Could very easily be the cable moving and not the choke.
