RE: Fully Synthetic Oil

Yeah, I just broke 2000 miles on my 06 636. I will be changing to full synthetic this weekend. I'm still undecided for what weight of oil to use. With this florida heat, I think I'm going to go with 15w-50. Can the oil be changed with the bike on it's kickstand, or do I need to get a full stand for it?

Personally, I'd put it up on rear stand.

Also I recommend Mobil 1. Was talking with a Chevron Tech who has done studies on the different oils on the market. According to him every oil was pretty much the same until he got to the mobil 1. He highly recommended that oil. A Chevron guy recommending Mobil 1 after doing the research was good enough for me lol.

I just really don't feel like spending 80 bucks on a stand, then 15 bucks on the rear pucks to lift it on

Here's an interesting thing to think about.

Its more food for thought, as this is not readily available in the US and would probably cost too much to get it over (not to mention we pay a lot more for oil here) but I'm using a mineral oil which has been proven to-
a. produce more power
b. show markedly less wear particles in oil analasys
c. lower temps
d. run smoother

than Mobil in particular. I swapped from Motul synthetic to this mineral oil, and it is amazing the difference in power and vibration. Particularly I noticed a lot more torque- the 636 is far happier at lower revs. And no I dont work for them, I just always throught synthetic was 'naturally' better than mineral.

sorry guys like I said, being an aussie product its not really available up your way.

How do you lube your chain then?

If you change it while on the side stand, at least stand it straight up to let all oil drain.

I change on the rear stand, but when she's done dripping, I tip it side to side slowly. I've seen around 150ml more oil drop oil doing this.
