Default Front end question

I just bought a 98 zx6r. I dont really like the front end. Can I put a new front end on it? Which one fits with the least modifications?
Thanks

anything will fit! you just have to modify, i would imagine that all the fronts that arent made for that bike are going to take about the same amount of modification (new mount holes, headlights, windscreen, and mirror holes) you should be able to get away from some of that with universal aftermarket pieces.

anything is possible with enough patience and money!

welcome to the forum i hope you love the new kawi (sans front end)

duh, I seen the "not liking the front end" statement and I was thinking forks and not the fairings.

New forks are easy. Look at all the blokes that put inverted forks on their sv650s. Buy any set of forks you want, with triple clamps included. Take the old triples, and the new triples to a machine shop. $100.00 later the new triples will fit on the old triples. It really is a no brainer for any machine shop. Since 2000 i have replaced any conventional forks on my bikes with inverted. I run a machine shop, if you want i will do it for you for $100.00, you pay all shipping.
That is of course... if by changing the front end you mean the forks, not the bodywork

Hey Fask, I'd like to install 05-06 636 inverted forks on my old 85 600R Racebike. Can you do something? Where are you located?

I'm in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. Right now im making a top triple for my 05 zx6r from scratch (bike never came with one) and seriously considering making a new bottom one, ie; beefed up 3 pinch bolt racing style.
As far as retrofiting, there are a couple different ways to go about it.All you need todo is get a setof the updated triples and put the old stearingheadshaft in them.
It seems like most stock lower tripples have the steering head shaft pressed into them. I have yet been able to press one out w/o totally destroying the lower triple, or totally destroying the shaft. The process is basically:
Save the shaft = put shaft in lathe, turn down triple clamp until non-existant
Save the triple = put lower triple in mill, machine down shaft until non-existant

With that method its obvious that two parts become one. Rather destructive unfortuneately.

If i do end up making a new lower triple from scratch... i would just need the 86 lower triple to destroy.
Are you planning on running the 86 front rim or the 05/06?
