Charging system should be checked above 3,000 RPM and should be around 13 volts or more in normal configuration. Theck you battery terminal connection for contactand tightenss. Clean them with a wire brush and re-install. Spray it with anti corrosion battery post spray.

 

I know I am supposed to have between 14.2 and 15.2 when the bike is off idle. I do see a light change, about .2-.3 volts when off idle. I checked the diodes and they seem to be okay. I haven't checked the regulator circuit. I talked to my buddy back in WA who's a Kawi tech and he said it is most likely the rectifier/regulator that is bad. I just wanted to see if anyone has had this problem. I don't want to buy the part and the problem be somewhere else.

 

if your boy's a kawi tech then listen to him...
if not i would bring it to a pro just so u dont keep changing parts that dont need to be changed
and waste money unneededly!

 

pull the meter out and test the Reg./rec.

 

Checked the diodes with the fluke. But to check the regulator, supposedly you are supposed to use a test light and 3-12 volt batteries, which I don't have just laying around.

 

ok so would doing the dual light mood kill the bat or the regulator on the bike?????and if so how do i fix it. any of it do i replace the regulator or what do i do i dont htink it is the bat becuase i charged it and it turned over fine for a while then the bike jsut died
