Default Anyone turbocharged thier bike???

I have a small turbo laying around the garage, I have turbo'd non turbo cars before, so I have a little modification experience. It was with mazda rx-7's and that is what the turbo came off of.. I was trying to design a turbo system using the turbo I have and am just a little stuck on how to connect the turbo to the carbs... A blowthrough would be the best way to do it but I wonder if the air filter box could handle about 8psi. I guess I would need to block off one of the intake ports of the airbox and go from there.... Is there any jetting info out there for turboing a 1995 zx-6r?

Just a winter project I was contemplating... And i thought that I would start gathering info now..

only way i have every found to turbo a carbed engine is to get a turbo plate that pushes the air inder the carbs and then mixes with the gas going down into the engine,

sorry if that didnt explain it to well ill try to find a pic of exactly waht im talking about

What about for the new zx-6rs that are fuel injected? Has anyone seen turbo on one? If my engine goes one day, engine rebuild with turbo would be awesome!

I thought that I may have to build a plenum that would take the place of the air box. If anyone has pictures of ANY carb'd bike with a custom intake plenum It would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to find an old IHI turbo. They are pretty small and spool fast. The older STI's had them stock. I think that might even be a bit big. I know a lot of people use verible vane turbos for bikes for faster spool. If you think of it this way that turbo for the FC or FD is biger then a stock turbo on a DSM (eclipse talon) and they don't get full spool till about 4k rpm and thats with a 2.0 now with a 599cc motor you kind of get the idea. it wont flow enough exhaust to really get it spooled in a reasonalbe time. just my .02. I never turboed a bike but I have had a couple of turbo cars.

yeah because when it comes down to it - how often are you going to want THAT much more power?
