Is the 2005 Ninja 600RR too serious?

Hi all. I have been looking to buy a 2005 Ninja 600RR. I am 37 years old, and looking for a comfortable sport bike to cruise around in. I have no intention of racing on the track or the streets. I can't find too much information on this bike. I'm no slouch, but I also don't want to stop riding it because it's too aggressive. Any help or information would be much appreciated. Would I be better off buying a CBR like everyone else?

hey man, glad you want to get into riding. the reason your not finding anything on what you typed in is becuase those are two different bikes...the 600rr is the honda which is also a very nice bike...your meaning an 2005 ninja zx6r 636...i dont know your riding experience but both of those bikes are very aggresive...easily the two fastest 600's in there class...but being at your age im sure you have alot more respect for something that has that much power...i never stear anyone away from the sport bike family and if your just looking to do some crusing you might want to look at a sport and not a super sport bike...still in the 600 class but a much milder tone of bike...still very nice though...well good luck and take pics and keep us updated on what you get..

I'm not sure they designed either of those bikes for "comfort" heh. I had to choose between the 636 and the CBR 600RR (unless u really meant to say ZX-6RR which is the 599 cc) and i chose the Kawi for a few reasons. You nailed it - There are a million CBR's out there. There maybe be some 636's but not really that many comparatively. The extra torque, the slipper clutch and positive neutral finder (which some people hate) were nice things for me. Don't get me wrong though, there is a level of comfort, but compared to other types of bikes the forward lean is a bit of something you may need to get used to if you aren't. Feel free to message me, or what not if you want to talk details. I was between the Yamaha YZF-R6 and R6S, Honda CBR600RR, Kawi 636, Triumph Daytona 675 (my personal favorite), and the Suzu GSX-R600.

In order I think in my thread somewhere else my list went something like this:

1)Triumph Daytona 675
2) Kawasaki ZX-6R 636
3) Yamaha YZF-R6S
4) Honda CBR 600RR
5) Yamaha YZF-R6
6) Suzuki GSX-R600
7) Suzuki SV650 (i would have full fairing'd it)

Good luck. My AOL Instant messanger is probably the best way to get a hold of me. Heddp is the screen name. Cheers and good luck.

if you're looking to get a semi-fast bike that's comfortable, go see a dealership and check out the 08 zzr. then if you like it you can buy a used 98-02 or 05-08 zzr since they are essentially the same bike. i got an 02, and it's the most comfortable 600 i've ever been on, and it still has a good bit of gogo juice for when i wanna speed

and plus for one of these in really good shape, you'r looking at $4k MAX

RE: Is the 2005 Ninja 600RR too serious?

Kawasaki made 2 series of 600 class bikes from 2003 to 2006. They were the 599cc ZX6RR and the 636cc ZX6R or 636. The 2003 & 2004's weren't as comfortable and were geared more toward track riding with their aggressive suspensions and riding positions. In 2005 & 2006, Kawasaki relaxed the riding position and the suspension a bit to make it more pleasant to ride on the streets but also gave it more power for the street and track. The 600RR (ZX6RR) is a good bike but does not have as much low end and midrange as the 636 but is an excellent machine. Almost everything interchanges between the RR & the 636 except some of the engine internals. If you get a good deal, go for it.

Thanks everyone for helping me. I was referring to the ZX-6RR, not the ZX6R. I should find out on Wednesday if I get the bike or not. Unfortunately there is a bidder who keeps running the price up.

the RR is all top end - its a great track bike but for around town the lack of bottom end may annoy you - it does some not others.

Depend how much you weigh. If you're 170 plus, get the 636.However, the bike is very fast for a 600 or middleweight bike. All depends on what you compare it to.

I bet it's the sellers friend who keeps upping the price. Lame but happens all the time.
