1st to 2nd Shift
I am new to Kawasaki Forums so just wanted to start by by saying HI I ride a Titanium Silver 05 Kawasaki ZX6R 636. I am having a problem with my 1-2 shift. If I take my bike up to 13,000+ RPM and try to shift into 2nd gear more than 50% of the time it goes into neutral and makes a loud CLUNK noise and does not go into 2nd gear until I re-clutch and kick it up again! WTF... I have lost too many races at this point and am really getting sick of this crap. ...I am kicking it up as hard as I can from 1st to 2nd and almost every time I take it up to 15,000RPM (during a drag race) it will CLUNK and not go into second (it will go to neutral but not 2nd). My bike is still under factory waranty I was just wanting to know what to expect when I go to the dealership and report the problem and possibly any adivce as to what the problem might be... My bike needs help! You guys gotta help me with this If I lose to another GSXR I'm going to loose my mind!
Also I bought the bike from a buddy of mine who is the origanal owner and I am the 2nd owner, The bike is only 11months old, will the dealership still fix this for free under the factory Kawasaki 12 month waranty?
Thanks for all the help!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!

RE: 1st to 2nd Shift
The warranty transfers over so you have no worries there. They (stealership) can look up the info by your Vin#. How long has it been since you have changed your oil? It COULD be that..I know my bike gets harder to shift when my oil gets a little dirty. Good luck and take it to the stealership ASAP

Also check your clutch lever adjustment. Take it in to the dealer/ repair shop and have someone ride it. Maybe your friend was too hard on the tranny. Does it also do it when you shift without the clutch? Try changing the oil. The 05-06's are supposed to shift better & smoother than the 03-04's but I don't have any problems with my 03 unless the chain is too loose or the clutch lever has too much play.
