1998 ZX6R steering damper

Sup fellas, I fell into a steering damper a few weeks ago and I was wondering about mounting it. It's not the rotary type. It's the straight bar type. I was wondering if any of you guys run one on an older bike like mine. I'm gonna fab up some mounts I think for up by the tank. But I would really appreciate any suggestions or pictures of your bikes with this kind of damper. Thanks alot.

Not sure on the mounting issue, I hear adjustable is the way to go for stuntin tho.

Stop falling....sheesh....lol

I say keep it off of the bike since you do not need it if the suspension is set up correctly. I almost gave mine away from the 10r. But for whatever reason, if I sell this ride, people would demand that the damper be present.

You could check how the zx7's mounted theirs on the side if there is a lug on the frame on the 6r. But a tip over generally will wipe the damper out.

I do have a cage I built for the bike, but I suppose it could still get squashed if it falls just right. It is an adjustable damper, It's not an Ohlins but it seems pretty good and the price was right. I don't really want it up on top of the tank because it is fairly long. Maybe I'll have to modify the cage to save/mount it. I hear ya about the suspension set up, but I don't want to end up with head shake after stompin a fat wheelie. The bearing was checked pre-crash, maybe I'll check it again...just in case :)

I hear ya. I was getting more than my normal twitch during my last track weekend. I was thinking what the hell....It came down to the fork oil not being equal and low due to seeping seals. But tread wear/useage is a big deal as well. Really not sure on how to mount that damper at the moment

I found a pic of a linear setup ontop of the tank. It looks like it takes up alot of space and it must swing quite a bit. And if I EVER try a highchair it'll get in the way...99.9% sure that won't happen anyway. I tried a tank wheelie a few times and it scared the crap outta me lol. Not easy either by the way. I may end up trading it or selling it. Still not too sure. But thanks for the input.
