They pulled some bull**** here making us wear full leathers if you run over 125 mph....... no one has wrecked, but im not buying $600 worth of leather JUST to race on fri nights...... pissed me the **** off, my best time is still 11.01

at the drag way that I go to if you run faster than 10sec. or over 120 you are required to have full lethers and a tether strap. its not bull%$#@ is a damn good idea if you ask me.. if it was my track if you run a bike you would wear lethers even if you were running a 25 sec. run at 5 mph. plus evey car racer would wear a helmit..

Well its time for some leather pants!! I think with all this 1/4 mile talk, its time to hit the track. I think i will make it out there a few times this year to see if i like it. If so, then its time to earn some points next year. Here is a link to the local track.Local track Let me know what you think. Any advice will be appreciated. Noobie to the organized racing world. So what should i expect? Thanks

sorry but i disagree, i think WE should have the option of wearing leathers because we have to wear jacket, gloves, etc, and we sign a wayver saying they arent responsible for anything. yeah, its smart, but i dont have the $$ for ****ing leathers. if i had leathers i would be down at jennings on the road race course. and the rule is if you run over 125mph here. and were talking about test and tune here, not a real race.

Problems with used leathers...
I agree that most leathers are expensive.. a good set, will run from 599.00 all the way up to
1500.00... even the less expensive leathers (NEW) can run about 300.00 new..
then add pucks and a back/kidney protector for another 100.00

getting back to buying used leathers... used leathers are a great alternative to new pricing
But the fact is.. you should have them checked out by a good leather shop...anyway
stitching in old leathers may be worn.... make sure all the stitching is good (not loose)
tears happen... make sure they are in good shape as well...

a friend just ordered a new set Syed leathers... very nice by the way....
he complained that leathers made today are basically assembly lined.. (true to some extent)
and dont really fit him well... so he figured a set of custom leathers for 1200.00 was well worth his comfortability.. I had to disagree...

i on the other hand bought a cheaper set of leathers...
my problem like most... cannot fit into a 100% comfortable feeling
my top 1/2 is unproportional to my bottom 1/2

i bought a two piece set... seperatly on purpouse... so the zippers dont actually match where they should...
i went to my local leather tailor.. and she moved the zipper on the jacket.. wha la...
a good set of cheap leathers that fit me right...
