Default 05 zx6r fuel light

Hey guys, just got my 05 zx6r 636 about a month ago and I have a problem. My fuel light comes on and it flashes "fuel" on the screen like it should but I am riding about 80 miles before it comes on and when I go fill up it takes 2.5 gallons. Any ideas what could be wrong?

I get 150-160 miles per tank. My lite usally comes on about 35-40 miles before that. Maybe you have a faulty fuel sensor switch or you are not filling you tank fully during fillups. Good luck!!

i fill mine up to the filler neck and I get about 145 before the light comes on. You can't fill it up to the filler neck on the CA models coz of some emissions stuff I guess.

I can't seem to get it gased up to the filler neck either. I live in Ca where they have a suction sheath over the nozzle on the gas pumps. Before you could push them up and out of the way but most are too stiff to do that anymore.

I just filled up today and put in 3.5 gallons after light came on. The pump had the little sheath but I just pushed it out of the way and held it there. It took a little time to hold bike upright and not spit fuel everywhere but, I got it. Next time I will look for a gas station without the sheathes.
