03 zx6rr programable ecu?

i've heard the 03 zx6rr has a programable ecu? so if i get an exhaust can i just remap it? or is it not that flexible and i'd still need a power commander?

The 03-06 ZX6RR's do not have a programmable ECU. You can buy the RACE ECU which is available from Kawasaki for about $700 bucks plus the programming harness which is another $500-$600. With the programmable ECU you can adjust the fuel maps and the timing also. Like the PCIII plus the ignition module, so it's about the same price not including the harness. I have an extra Race ECU & harness if anyones interested. P.M. me.

thanks, i guess i was missinformed on it then, so the race ecu from kawasaki is basically a way overpriced factory PCIII...except the new PCIII you can just plug into a laptop with usb...hrm...so why do people still buy the kawasaki unit?

RE: 03 zx6rr programable ecu?

That is a good question. I will find out here in about a week. I just bought one (actually 2). I hear it gives more horsepower than the PCIII alone because you can adjust the timing without the igniyion module. You can use a PCIII with the ignition module and it would "probably" do the same thing. I will know soon. I plan to have my bike dyno'd with the stock map, with a couple of different PCIII maps and then with the Race ECU installed. Later come the Race Cams and Velocity Stacks which I got with the ECU Race KIT. From what I have read and researched, This combo is good for 10 HP! WE WILL SEE?
