02 zx6r swap to 03 636 F.I. motor
Does anyone know of this swap? The 600 motor vs. the 636 look identical and seem to have the same mouting points and cary alot of the same kawaski part #'s. It would be a fantastic upgrade. Does this just seem to easy to be true?the motor with completewiring harness, cooling system & exhaust are goin for 800 to1k on ebay. would it bethat easy as a boltin, plug and play?

as long as you get all the electronics with the 636 it should work. id take measurements first tho before i dropped any money.

The 2002 European ZX6R's had 636 engines. I think it was a test bed for the US market andI think it will work. Either you use all your stock wiring harness & carbs or all 03/ 04636 wiring & Fuel injection setup with an 03-04 636 engine.

I'm sure that the engine would physically fit in the frame as i think the 636 is actually smaller than the 2002 engine... i don't think that the mounting points line up though. It wouldn't be that tough to make up some engine mount brackets though. Last time i checked, entire 2003/04 zx6r's were going for pretty damn cheap. For the cost of doing the swap you might be able to turn your bike over and buy an 03... but if thats your ball than you should do it up! might as well get the frame painted while you have it all apart.

Here is the theory that i live by:
2 generations old makes acost effectivestreet bike 1 generation old makes acost effectiverace bike current generation makes you poor. Then again i wish i had never sold my 2001 gsx-r1000 (sorry kawi guys[:o]) |
07 zzr600
Everything will work as long as you get the wiring harness and all I put a 636 engine on my 2007 zzr600
|
2005 636cc
But I will say this when I done my swap it was because I totaled my 2005 ZX-6R. So I had all the parts write their own hand to switch mine over. The front fairings tail fin everything but the nose will bolt up to my ZZR as well
