Default ZX10R Break in period.

Hello to everyone. I am the proud new owner of a used 2008 ZX10R with 918 miles on it. So my question is should I ride it like I would if it was broken in or take it easy for a few miles more?

The manual say's 500-1,000 miles not to exceed 6,000 rpm and get the 1st initial maintenance service done by the dealership or mechanic. That's per my 07 manual, but I would assume the same apply's to a 08 as well. I got my 07 with 1400 miles on it a few weeks ago so I didnt have to worry about the break in process. Good luck!

Welcome to KF.

Yes, all of the 10r manuals state that information. I chose to use my break in method of keeping the rpms from redline, but loading and unloading the engine by going through the gears from 5-10k rpm. Get some heat cycles, change oil and filter after 20-100 or so miles. (gives you a chance to inspect the oil and to get a shake down cruise) Then run it. Any bike that I get is run the same. Whether it be new off the floor or with any miles on it. Just my opinion of course. Good luck and enjoy your new ride.
